Kamryn is officially 4 months old! 4 MONTHS!!!!!! My baby girl is growing up so quickly! She is so alert, aware and bursting with a beautiful personality. It’s really been a blessing to experience Motherhood in a different way this time around. I’ve literally watched her grow and change so much in just 4 short months. And having her with us from day 1 without having to spend any time in the NICU has just been so wonderful. She has discovered her hands (which she loves to put in her mouth) and most recently she started touching her feet while doing a half roll to the side. She is fascinated by Jaxson and loves when we talk to her. Her little smile just warms my heart and her happiness brings us so much joy! Oh, and she is a GOOD sleeper Praise Jesus!
As a mother to a baby given 20% chance of survival, I couldn't be more grateful for Jaxson's life and good health. 2 years ago I was in the hospital receiving grim statistics and predictions on what could be of my sons health- and what do you know, my son with the help of God proves EVERYONE wrong! With exception of his speech delay he is miraculous and not showing signs that he was born at 22 weeks 6 days. His life is a reminder that good things DO happen to those who believe!
I'm sure I'm not the only who feels a bit of anxiety when it comes to leaving your child in someone else's care. I'm not just talking about for a few hours of babysitting, I mean everyday! I am not only a first time mom but I'm a preemie mom! So when the topic of sending Jaxson to day care came up recently, my eyes got big and my palms a bit sweaty. With Jaxson being born extremely premature, I had to relinquish ALL control. I had no real say so as a parent. Yes I was his advocate of course, but when your child is in the NICU, there's only so much parenting you can do honestly. For the first 4 months of his life he lived at the hospital, being cared for by people who I knew nothing about prior to his birth. I was his mom but THEY were his guardians. Talk about a hard pill to swallow! When he came home at 4 months old, I took maternity leave to care for him and ultimately never returned to my Corporate job. Since that time I have started my blog of course, and a small apparel business. My main "job" is still caring for Jaxson and our home while my husband goes to work.
